WhisperVault is a macOS application that performs voice transcription entirely on your device using the open-source whisper.cpp library. This policy explains what data is processed and how — both by the app and by this website.
The short version: your audio and transcriptions never leave your Mac. We do collect your email address when you request a download link or purchase a license, but we use it only to deliver what you asked for.

When you enter your email to receive a download link, we store that email address and use it solely to send the link. When you purchase a license, your email and license key are stored in our database so we can support you if something goes wrong. We do not sell, share, or use your email for marketing.
Standard web server logs record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These are used solely for technical operation.
When you hold the hotkey, your microphone is captured using macOS AVFoundation APIs. The audio is processed in memory by the Whisper transcription engine running locally on your Mac, then immediately discarded. The audio is never written to a permanent file and never transmitted over the network under any circumstances.
Transcribed text is pasted directly into the active application on your Mac. WhisperVault does not store, log, or retain any record of what you said or what was transcribed. The text exists only in your clipboard and wherever you pasted it.
App settings (hotkey choice, selected model, license status) are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults in your home directory. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Whisper model files are downloaded from HuggingFace (huggingface.co) when you first set up the app or change model size. The models are stored locally in your Application Support directory and used exclusively for on-device transcription. No data is sent to HuggingFace beyond a standard file download request.
Payments are processed by Stripe (stripe.com). When you complete a purchase, Stripe handles your payment details — we never see or store your card number. After a successful payment, Stripe notifies our server, which generates a license key and emails it to you.
When you activate a license in the app, your license key and Mac name are sent to whispervault.de to verify the key and record the activation. No audio, transcription history, or personal data is included in this request. After activation, your license status is cached locally; the app validates your key periodically in the background.
We retain your email address and license key for as long as your license is active so we can provide support. If you'd like your data deleted, email us and we'll remove your record within 7 days. Deleting your data will deactivate your license key.
